Case 1: How to Add WordPress Widgets – Traditional Way

  1. Appearance » Widgets:  Here, you can check the number of widget areas your current theme has. I have two widget areas (footer1, footer2). Yours may vary.

      2. Now, you can add any widget to the available widget areas.

How to Add WordPress Widgets? – Widget Areas

There are mainly two ways to add a widget to the widget areas.

1 Way: Using the block editor or classic editor 

  • Follow to steps given in Case 1.
  • Select the widget area (footer2) and click on it. Now click on the plus icon.

  • After adding the widget, click on the update button. Visit your website to see the changes.

  • You have successfully added the widget to the widget area. You can remove any widget from here as well.

Note: The classic editor also follows a similar approach.

2 Way: Using the WordPress theme customizer

  •  Go to any page and click on Customize.

  • Now, You can either click on the widgets under the customizer or click on the blue pencil icon to choose the widget area.
  • Now add a widget & you’re done.

Case 2 : How to Add WordPress Widgets in Pages 

The most common way to add a WordPress widget to pages is using page builders or the Gutenberg editor. 

For Gutenberg: The process will be the same as the customizer. 

For Other Builders (e.g Elementor): Here, we are going to use Elementor. Elementor makes it very easy to use widgets as it comes with many widgets, including most default WordPress widgets. One can easily add WordPress Widgets in Pages. 

  1. Install & activate Elementor Page builder and edit a page with Elementor
  2. Now navigate or search for the widget.
  3. Now Drag it to the page to add it. That’s it.

This is a tricky question to answer, However, the solution is easier than you think. Well, you might not be able to add WordPress widgets In the Header directly, if your current theme doesn’t allow it.

You can use Astra (free version) as it lets Add WordPress Widgets In the Header (As shown).

But if you don’t want to change your current theme, you can create a custom header using Elementor for Free and add the desired widget in the header.
